The beloved '56 ensemble struts its stuff in a pulsating concert performance loaded with Bill Holman charts.

Recorded live in San Bernardino in 1956, this line-up is among the most swinging of all the Kenton bands, with accomplished soloists such as Sam Noto, Carl Fontana, Lennie Niehaus, Bill Perkins, Jack Nimitz, Ralph Blaze and Mel Lewis.

Bill Holman's arrangements dominate this album - 12 of the 17 tracks are arranged by him. Meanwhile, a buoyant Lennie Niehaus and the extraordinarily gifted Carl Fontana stand out in what is a truly fine band of soloists.
