FINDING JAZZ JUST GOT EASIER

Having been in the music business for over 25 years first as a jazz retailer and then as a mail order supplier we have become increasingly aware that there are many jazz enthusiasts who have neither a local jazz CD shop, nor feel that their tastes in music are being catered for by the big mail order or internet suppliers and so ultimately miss out.

We are aiming to address that problem on two fronts.

Firstly we target shops that at present only have a small jazz selection which quite probably only contains major company product. Many jazz labels or individual releases wouldn't necessarily be tracked down by these shops but we are convinced that once they are aware of a supplier for them they will be very pleased with the take up from their customers.

Contrary to the impression that the media gives the vast majority of CD releases outside of the top 40 are not sold in supermarkets or even by the major chains and the internet but are sold via specialist or independent CD shops and jazz mail order companies which are run and staffed by music enthusiasts. We employ two sales reps to help keep these outlets sell our jazz.

Secondly we aim to cover all retail/e-tail possibilities. We have access to the major chains and their databases so anyone should be able to go in to, for example, an HMV anywhere in the country and even if one of our distributed CDs is not stocked they will be able to order it.

Major e-tailers such as Amazon will list our products and most web search engines should direct people to their sites.

Not everyone can become a Jamie Cullum or a label such as Blue Note but we like to think we can help by providing the next step.

If you are the artist then we can bridge the gap between making a disc to sell at gigs or via friends and getting your product to shops and the wider market.

If you are a label then we will get involved whether you have three releases or three hundred.

We supply shops across the country. We also supply HMV, Zavvi and major e-tailers such as Amazon.co.uk, Tesco Direct etc.

The response we have been getting has been totally positive from labels, artists and the shops we visit. We are delighted to be able to say that we have been able to help promote an increasing number of artists and labels not just in the UK but from around the world.
