Widespace
Dino Coccia's new album is dedicated to Dean Hajir and all the former pupils, helpers and staff at Thurlow Park School in South London. The closure of the school by Lambeth Council left a great gap for all those who had been involved in its outstanding achievements as a special needs school for children with Mild Learning Disabilities. Dino thanks all those who have helped Dean through their contributions on this CD, they are:
Bob Haddrell, David Newton, Rod Demick, Tim Wells, Shakey Vick, Jim Ydstie, Dave Briggs, Alan Glen, Gordon Smith, Bernie Pallo, Alan Barnes, Sonny Black, George Pearson and Roger Cotton. He also wishes to thank fellow drummer George Gostlow for all his advice and encouragement.
“From the sassy opening bars of Art Pepper’s Rita San, appreciators of jazz and blues will know they’re in for an album of treats. On Widespace Dino Coccia has assembled some of London’s finest musicians for a session of original tunes plus a sprinkling of old favourites. It is typical of Dino not only to give so much to the music scene by this album but also to dedicate it to Dean Hajir, whose welfare has been central to his life for the past decade. Endorsed by Paul Jones on his Jazz Me Blues programme for JazzFM, Widespace needs no furthers recommendation. Go Listen!"
